Could Toughening Lines Replace The Annealing Lehr?

Recent developments in holloware toughening have led to greater efficiency of operation and an improvement in the overall strength of the finished glass product. They also present the prospect of continous toughening lines which could eventually replace annealing systems on high volume applications such as container production. This article looks at the toughening process and at possible future applications.
