Cornwall Glass & Glazing: £2M Production Upgrade

Cornwall Glass & Glazing announced record increases in production following a £2M extension at its St.Austell plant & its participation in a lean manufacturing programme. The investment to extend the existing St.Austell operation has seen the company move from glass processing to manufacturing by taking over all insulating glass (IG) production for the group, which has 9 sites across Devon & Cornwall. The company now supplies 30% of its production to 8 other sites, with the remainder going to its wide-ranging customer base. It has also achieved the Kitemark standard from BSI for the production of IG units. General manager Mr M Saint called on the expertise of the SW MAS to develop & implement a lean manufacturing programme aimed at improving processes & quality. He said: "The impact of the new knowledge is clear with unit production per month increasing by nearly 65%".
