Corning Enhances Neon Automotive Lighting

Corning Inc., has come up with some enhancements that extend the life and reduce the power consumption of its advanced neon automotive lighting technology. Lamp life has been extended by at least five times compared with the already long-life of conventional neon technology. A new electrode design uses capacitively coupled external electrodes that eliminate the traditional failure mode for discharge lamps. The design also incorporates integrated optics into the lamp's thin profile.
