Continuous Control Of Glass Viscosity At The Forehearth Exit - Conditioning Control Based On Constant Viscosity Rather Than Constant Temperature

The availability of an on-line viscosimeter with a precision comparable to current temperature measurements allows a shift from temperature controlled glass conditioning to a viscosity controlled glass conditioning. In such a way, all variations of viscosity including non-thermal viscosity changes are monitored and can be taken into account by new process control strategies such as predictive system and the use of fuzzy control system.
