Italian glass factories are required by regulatory bodies to install continuous analysers in the furnace stacks. According to relevant standards, the analytical methods adopted by the Stazione Sperimental permit a precise verification of the calibration and of the relative accuracy index of the installed instrumentation. In some cases these analysers allow combustion in industrial furnaces to be optimised, thus reducing refractory corrosion and fuel consumption.
