The Container Glass Industry In Germany

Germany is a country of glass. Beverages are sold in glass bottles and many foodstuffs are packaged in glass jars. The statistics confirm that 80% of all beverages are packaged in glass in Germany. This can also be seen in the production volume of the German container glass industry. The country's glass factories manufactured 4.3m tonnes of packaging glass, or 17bn glass containers in 1997, making Germany Europe's largest producer of container glass with a 25% share of the EU's container glass production.
