Action is being taken by the European Commission in the form of infringement proceedings against Italy, Portugal, France, Greece, Belgium, Republic of Ireland, Finland and the UK. The UK has failed to adopt waste management plans in compliance with the Framework Waste Directive, the Hazardous Waste Directive and the Packaging Waste Directive.
