Cleanfix, based in Germany, provides a method to clean the lehr roller surface on-site, without production loss or shutdown. It is well-known that the cleaning of the roller surface of the annealing lehr and lift out rollers has always affected the running glass production, causing delays and loss of quality. Convention methods often involve the inconvenient disassembly and reassembly of the rollers. This is time and cost consuming, and the reassembly may damage the roller surface, thus causing even more costs and production downtimes. Cleanfix has developed a cleaning method that enables the delicate on-site handling of the LOR and lehr rollers. According to the company, the technique does not damage the roller surface or the glass. It has replaced the familiar rotating wire brush with a sliding cleaning head placed on a mobile carriage.
