Chinese Glass Production Update

In the first quarter of 2006, the increase in glass production in China once again showed no signs of a let-up. This article looks at how the figures shape up for the first part of the year. Output in Jan-April showed an increase of 12.2% over the previous year with output registered as 127.99m cases (20 cases = 1/tonne). Of this, float glass output was recorded as 109.95m cases, an increase of 12.6%. Other types of flat glass recorded output of 18.03m cases, an overall increase of 9.8% on the same period in 2005. With hollow glass, output reached 2.75m.sq metres, an increase of 34.1% whilst overall laminated glass output attained levels of 4.75m. sq metres, a rise of 112.5%.
