Chinese Flat Glass Industry Review

China is the world's largest producer of flat glass, with the industry's highest number of float glass production lines. From 1991 to 2010, China's glass output increased on average by 17% annually. Despite competitive pressures, more production capacity is added each year and the industry displays enormous excess capacity. The number of new float plants stood at 201 in 2010, and it is estimated the number increased to 209 in 2011. In this article the author presents an overview of this dynamic and vibrant sector.
