After observing the promising business opportunities generated from the Chinese energy-saving market, Taiwan Glass Group has announced that it will invest US$ 138M to establish an energy-saving glass plant in Wuhan, Hubei province, China. The plant will have an annual capacity of 10M tons of energy-saving glass, and will also be the group's first investment in central China. According to chairman P.F. Lin, his group also plans to invest in another energy-saving plant in Changhua Coastal Industrial Park, Taiwan, adding that energy-awareness is rising in China. Taiwan Glass will build the Hubei plant on 500 to 600 acres in two phases, with an investment of US$ 48M in the first-phase and US$ 90M in the second. Taiwan Glass' total annual sales amounted to US$ 8.5BN, with US$ 4.5BN from China and the remaining from Taiwan.
