[China] New Float Furnace Comes Onstream

Chinese-based Xinyi Glass Holdings Ltd, a manufacturer of float glass, automobile glass, energy saving construction glass & solar glass, announced that it had ignited the furnace for a trial run of its third float glass production line at its Jiangmen production complex. Boasting a melting capacity of 900/tpd, the new line is expected to commence commercial production July/11 to meet the enormous demand in automobile glass from the global market. The additional capacity is aimed to address its business expansion in the three major economic zones in China. The group plans to increase the number of float glass production lines in China to a total of 14 by end 2011, which they claim will raise its annual melting capacity to 2.61M/tonnes. Moreover, in 3Q 2011, the group's Jiangmen production complex will be converted to use natural gas as key fuel. By then, the high quality float glass & solar glass production lines at all production complexes of the Group will be fueled by natural gas to attain a higher level of energy & cost efficiency.
