Glass is one of the most recyclable materials available in the market. Presently, developed countries such as Japan and Germany lead the world in glass recycling. In China, however, the practice of glass recycling remains in a nascent stage of development. This is reflective of the progress, or a lack thereof, in co-ordinated waste recycling efforts across the country. From the factories to the consumers to the waste industries, China does not have an overall functional circulation system in which optimum levels of waste can be made reusable again. Neither has the country established any macro policies, laws and regulations to govern and promote waste recycling. China is, however, responding to an increasing awareness that waste recycling holds the key to the sustainable development of the nations economy.
