[China] Float Plant Fuel Efficiencies

In this article the author discusses how Chinese float glass plants are looking to increase their fuel efficiency and how the numbers stack up against the industry at large. Key factors affecting the energy efficiency of glass production lines are mainly the design and construction of production lines; the control level of technology and equipment; and routine management. The author undertook a survey of Chinese float glass manufacturers energy consumption in the glass melting furnace. Four methods were taken in the survey: on-the-spot surveys; expert interviews; industry statistics; and document research. The survey focused on Chinese float glass manufacturers, not international glass companies in China.
