Chemically Strengthened Glass Comes Of Age

Traditionally, annealed glass has been strengthened to provide increased resistance to thermal and mechanical stresses by way of heat treatment. This result can, however, also be achieved through chemical strengthening. As well as looking briefly at this process, this article focuses on recently introduced US standards for quality control of the chemical strengthening process.
