Characterization Of Glasses By Fticr Mass Spectrometry

Laser desorption Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry is currently used in laboratories of the characterization of inorganic and organometallic compounds. Recently, this technique was used to confirm that the deposition of zirconium and silicon oxides were successfully made during thin layer coating of glasses. Previous work on characterization of biotites using this technique showed several ionic clusters in eh gas phase, namely Al2O3Al(OH)2, SiO2, Si2O4 (OH), SiAl04 etc. The ions obtained in the gas phase can give some structural information on the solid materials.
