Starwood, the US fund which owns Baccarat, is planning changes to the management of the French crystal maker. Herve Martin, 49, joined Baccarat on 3 Sept/07 as deputy MD, a post specifically created in preparation for the departure of MD Marc Leclerc, shortly due to leave. Mr Martin will then step up to Mr. Leclerc's old post. Since 2003, Herve Martin has been in charge of products at Italian luxury goods company Salvatore Ferragamo. Starwood also plans to appoint heads of international marketing, design & a director for the group's worldwide networks of shops. A strategic plan drafted by Starwood foresees the opening of new shops & investments in the group's manufacturing activities in the town of Baccarat. The French company's turnover has been stagnant at around EUR 130M for the last 6y; Starwood is aiming to almost double this over the next 5.
