Cgr Studies Show Environmental Impact Of Glassmaking

Emissions are the by-products of combustion, batching, fining and melting processes. Methods do exist and are now required to reduce hazardous by-products from exhaust streams. However, implementing the control technologies of the 21st Century will require the development of sensor technologies for the identification of volatile emissions. For this reason, a thorough understanding of the mechanisms associated with the evolution of these volatile releases becomes necessary to refine these sensors for identification of specific air toxics in increasingly rigorous manufacturing conditions. This paper highlights findings from an on-going analysis of emissions that are evolved from batch constituents.
