Ceramic Sensors For The Glass Industry

Monitoring toxic emissions and understanding which species are produced as a function of the conditions associated with glass manufacturing is clearly valuable to the glass industry in an era when society has become increasingly aware of the environment. The control of combustion and emissions from glass tanks with the use of high-temperature sensors is the top priority of the glass industry. Two of the mid term goals from the Glass Technology Roadmap are to develop durable, high-temperature sensors for flow, temperature, and gas composition and to develop predictive emission modeling tools. The result will be better control of combustion and subsequent energy savings and reduction of toxic emissions.
