The town of St Helens, glassmaking centre for over two centuries, is planning a Science and Arts Centre as part of the regeneration of the town. Called the "Hotties" and concentrating on glassmaking, it is based on an old glassworks and preliminary investigations on the site as well as in archives have yielded exciting unexpected discoveries.
