Ce Warning

GEZE UK, a manufacturer of door and window control systems, is urging hardware suppliers across the country to ensure they are stocking and selling only CE marked ironmongery for use on fire doors ahead of it becoming a legal requirement very soon. The move towards CE marking, which provides a "passport" for goods to pass freely throughout Europe, comes as the EU seeks to standardise fire testing across member states in a bid to protect end users from sub-standard products. This means that from Jan/06, it will be illegal to specify non-CE marked products for use on fire doors, something that could have serious legal ramifications for the industry if unsuitable products are used for any particular application.
