Cation Effects On 31P Mas Nmr Chemical Shifts Of Metaphosphate Glasses

A series of metaphosphate glasses has been examined with magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Increasing the ionic potential of the modifying cation from sodium to magnesium causes a systematic change to more isotropic chemical shifts with a concomitant increase in the peak FWHM.
