Catalyst Filter System Development

The UltraCat catalyst filter system from Tri-Mer, provides high NOx removal at the exhaust stack temperatures typical of glass plants, along with high PM removal and operational SO2 and HCl removal. Clear Edge Filtration manufactures the 3mr ceramic fibre filter elements used in the UltraCat system. Nano-sized pieces of NOx catalyst are embedded throughout the 20mm thick walls of the filter elements. This process creates a high surface area of catalyst to interact with the gas flow. Urea or aqua ammonia is injected upstream of the filters and the resulting ammonia gas reacts as the catalyst surface to break down the NOx. Along with high NOx removal potential, the system captures particulate to low levels.
