Chrysler is developing a cheap plastic car that it hopes will sell well in the developing world. The car's bodywork is made of four injection-moulded plastic pieces that snap together onto a lightweight steel chassis. Nearly 20% of the plastic comes from recycled drinks bottles. The finished car weighs around 500 kgs, costsd £4000 and does 50 miles to the gallon. It is now undergoing crash tests. (whole item)
