Bulgaria's PM Boyko Borisov, has officially opened Sisecam's latest factory for auto glass in the country's north-eastern city of Targovishte. "It is a great day for the city and the people who will work here," said Mr Borisov. "Such investments are of prime importance, especially for the underdeveloped regions," he added. Ahmet Kirman, CEO/Chair of Board at Sisecam, confirmed that the company's investments have turned Targovishte into a centre of glass production in the Balkans, providing direct employment to some 1440 people, while facilitating the creation of additional small and medium-sized businesses working with the company on a local level. This latest investment is estimated to be worth around US$25M. It will provide work for another 130 people. The factory will produce automatic and non-automatic side windows and heated back windows with an annual capacity of 1.3M/m2 and a turnover of $20M at full capacity. This is Sisecam's fifth manufacturing facility in Bulgaria. It launched a site for household glass in 2005, a facility for flat glass in 2006, a mirror line and a line for appliance glass in 2007.
