Construction in the Middle East is going through shifting trends in design, construction and operation practices toward lowering the environmental impact, creating regenerative designs and ensuring higher building efficiency. An increasing number of industry stakeholders in the region are addressing the unique opportunities from using multidisciplinary approaches in conventional development practices in order to decrease overall energy consumption. Many among these are adapting to BIPV in new constructions and renovations. Though, the concept of BIPV is new and at a very nascent stage in the region, BIPV has been increasingly been used in buildings for the past few years and is set to be an integral component moving forwards, as this article explains.
