Bubbling In Glass Furnaces

This paper reviews the work done within Pilkington looking at the mechanisms of bubbling. It outlines experimental work carried out examining the effects of various physical properties on bubble formation and streaming. An overview of the theory used in order to model bubbling of furnaces by a two dimensional mathematical flow simulation is also given and a comparison is made between theoretical and computational predictions and actual tank practice.
