Bubble Origin And Identifying Their Sources In Glassmelting Furnaces

There is an increasing demand for high quality glasses in all fields of glass technology and this requirement is reflected in the increased effort to reduce glass defects. Bubble defects play one of the most important roles as their occurrence in glass products is persistent and their removal requires both technological and theoretical experience. Essentially, there are two principal approaches to the bubble problem. The preventative approach, which tries to set conditions to ensure that there is a low level of bubbles during melting, and the identification approach which searches for the source of bubble defects using their properties and especially the results of their analyses.
