Bormioli And Calp Merger Rumours

The glassmaker Calp is said to be considering a merger with Bormioli Luigi, the group controlled by the Bormioli family of Parma. The two italian companies have business sectors of similar sizes which complement each other. Calp - Cristalleria Artistica La Piana - is a leader in crystal tableware; Bormioli Luigi is one of the most important EU companies in perfume bottles. Calp exited stock exchange listing after a public share offer by its majority shareholder Selfin. De-listing operations were carried out with the consultancy of Mediobanca. On the conclusion of the public share offer, Prudentia entered the Selfin group taking over 22.5%, with an investment of EUR 16M.
