Boosting System Electrodes: Vertical Or Horizontal?

Nikolaus Sorg GmbH & Co KG began supplying electric boosting systems for furnaces in 1969 and since then has installed over 1000 systems. This has meant it has amassed significant experience with electrodes installed both through the tank bottom and through the sidewalls. In this article, Richard Sims compares these two electrode installation methods, summarising the advantages and disadvantages of both.
