Bomb Airblast Resistance Of Glazings

Deliberate explosions in acts of violence around the globe force the need for architectural glazing to be engineered to withstand both the primary effects of the shock or blast wave and the secondary effect of the damage caused by bomb fragments. The EU's Committee on Norms has utilised shock tube testing as the method for establishing standards currently being drafted for explosion-resistant glazing. Monsanto, supported by US government and scientific experts has, however, utilised the open air blast arena test method. The results of the tests have shown that laminated glass with PVB is the most cost-efficient blast-resistant glazing product on the market.
