Bfrc On Roof & Vs Windows

The British Fenestration Ratings Council (BFRC) has announced that roof windows are the latest product category that will be covered by BFRC Energy Licenses. This new License is designed for replacing older roof windows (installed in the 70's/80's & 90's) that are coming to the end of their life. The Window Energy Rating for a roof window is calculated in exactly the same way as any energy related vertical product. BFRC has amended calculations and simulation method for vertical slider sash (VSS) windows that make allowance for this product with significant proportions of outer frame hidden within a masonry check reveal. The net result of this amendment will be to increase the solar gain element of the simulation for certain VSS windows because the glass will now represent an increased proportion of the total reveal size.
