Beverage Container Demand To Increase 2.2%; Prospects For Glass Improve, Study Says

According to the Freedonia Group, US demand for beverage containers is expected to grow at an annual pace of 2.2% through the year 2003 to 217bn units. Researchers attribute the growth to rising personal incomes, favourable demographic trends, new product introductions and development of under-utilized distribution channels. No surprise, the study puts plastic containers at a growth of 6%, to 55bn units, with new applications from hot-fill teas and juices to malt beverages fueling growth. The study is available from the Freedonia Group, Cleveland, e-mail: pr@fredoniagroup.com price: $3,500.
