Behind The Curtain (Wall)

The facade is an essential element of any kind of building as it determines not only its appearance, but also much of its thermal and acoustic performance, as well as its safety by creating a protective screen between the inside of the building and the outside world. Over the years, buildings have become higher and more complex and that has brought about increasingly complex technological challenges for all the parties involved in the creation of such modern mega-structures. This evolutionary spiral has affected the curtain wall sector too; there being a shift from cells composed of one sheet of glass mounted on an aluminium frame, to more complex double and triple "skin" high-performance facades which now characterise most newly-built skyscrapers. The Permasteelisa Group, as explained in this article, boasts a huge international project portfolio, including some of the landmarks of the cities that host them, such as the Syndey Opera House, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in LA, the Jin Mao World Financial Centre in Shanghai, and also the Shard in London, to name but a few.
