Beer Packaging Report

In 2001, worldwide demand for beer packaged in glass bottles stood at 196.1 billion units. Ten years before, in 1990, the demand for glass-packaged beer amounted to 155 billion units. By 2005, projected global demand for the same is expected to be 219.9 billion units. Demand for beer in canned units totalled only 59.4 billion in 1990 but by 2000 this had risen to 76.7 billion cans, and by 2205, the projected worldwide demand for canned beer is expected to be 85.7 billion cans. There was no demand for plastic-packaged beer in 1990 and by 2000 the figure was just 1 billion. Projected demand by 2005 for this sector, however, is placed at 9.7 billion units. (whole item)
