Beatson Clark Furnace Investment

Glass manufacturer Beatson Clark recently announced it is investing £10M on furnaces and high-tech equipment. Automatic inspection equipment is being installed to improve the quality of products and new 3D design software is being brought in. The firm, which celebrated 260 years in 2011, repaired one furnace in December and will rebuild another in July. Managing Director Tony McLoughlin said: "Weare a long-established business but we never stand still. We are always thinking about how we can improve our products and processes and constantly looking for new ways to provide an even better service. The fact that we are making such a significant investment in our plant in South Yorkshire is great news for the region. Using the 3D design software during the development process means our design team we will be able to provide customers with real-time images of what the end product will look like."
