Barnsley Glass Factory Axing 120 Jobs As Production Is Cut To Improve Competitiveness

Redfearn Glass, which employs about 700 people, is closing one of its furnaces in November, it announced recently. The company said it was struggling to fight off competition, particularly from a big new plant operating in Cheshire. Spokesman Simon Morgan said no further redundancies were planned but the firm could not make any assurances. "Due to the market conditions being as they are it's impossible to say," he said.
