Bahraini Al Yusuf Glass and Mirrors Co plans to set up a BHD 1.2 million (USD 3.2M) plant in Bahrain. The new plant will be set up at a total cost of BHD 500,000 (USD 1.3M) and will be equipped with a state-of-the-art glass tempering furnace worth some BHD 750,000 (USD 1.98M). The new factory will raise the daily glass production of Al Yusuf Glass and Mirrors Co to some 850 metres from the current production of between 200-250 metres. Part of the plant's output is to be marketed in Bahrain, with the remainder exported to Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The new plant will create a total 80 jobs, of which 80% will be for Bahraini nationals. The new plant, expected to be the first plant of its kind in Bahrain and in the Gulf region as whole, will be set up in co-operation with Finnish safety glass machinery and equipment maker Tamglass.
