Awards For Bottles

Diageo, the global drinks company, was the first winner of a new award for innovation in glass packaging sponsored by the glassmaker Rockware. The award was presented at the annual Institute of Packaging awards ceremony in London in June, in honour of Diageo's new D-shaped bottles for Gordon's Gin. The bottles are available in 70 centilitre, 1 litre and 1.5 litre sizes and are made by Rockware. They impressed the judges with their overall appearance; their shape; and the sharp embossing on the bottles. This is the first high volume spirits brand to achieve such a degree of shaping in its bottles and to hide mould marks with an offset mould joint, while maintaining the characteristics of a lightweight bottle. The design also win the RPC award for designer/design house of the year, for Bridge Design.
