Automotive Glass Windscreen Design And Shaping

During the past 20 years there have been many significant changes in automobile design and glazings are no exception. The use of glass and the role it plays in overall car design has increased to the point where the glass has become an integral part of the car rather than a transparent aperture. Styling trends have led to increases in glazed area and shape complexity, whilst glazing systems and advances in quality management are creating a demand for full surface shape control to tighter tolerances. This paper discusses current automotive glass requirements and how processing technology has developed to meet the challenges.
