Automatic Detection Of Small Inclusions In Samples Of Optical Glass

Optical glass may contain small inclusions introduced by the melting process. These can be detrimental for special applications of these glasses. In order to estimate the scattering efficiency, Mie scattering has been calculated as a function of the diameter of spherical bubbles and platinum particles in glass for a scattering angle of 90 deg. Both monochromatic and broad band illumination are considered in this paper.
