This paper looks at the activities of the domestic glass industry during and after the Second World War, during which the activities of most British glass manufacturers were severely curtailed. After the war, trade restrictions imposed by the Government further inhibited the recovery of the industry. The home market remained closed to the sale of ornamental lead crystal until 1952, with most decorated wares being reserved exclusively for export during this period.
