Assessment Of The Storage Stability Of Multi-Layer Pet Bottles (In German)

This article discusses the growing use of PET bottles in the beverage industry and assesses how stable multi-layer PET bottles are for storage of soft drinks. Quality over time for different packaging materials was tested, including glass, monolayer PET and multi-layer PET. Reduction in ascorbic acid levels, loss of carbon dioxide and browning or discolouration were all measured. Results highlighted the benefits of Bind-Ox technology in creating an oxygen barrier in multilayer PET bottles, and how that could be enhanced with the additional use of UV protection.
