Asahi Glass To Pay Eu Price Fixing Fine

Asahi Glass Co announced 5 February 2008 that it had agreed to pay a fine of JPY 10.3 BN imposed by the European Commission for fixing flat glass prices in Europe. Asahi Glass is one of the four companies that the Commission fined in November 2007 for colluding to fix flat glass prices in the construction sector. Asahi Glass is under another EU investigation into alleged price-fixing over automotive glass products. The company has booked some JPY 32.4 BN in special losses for the year ended 31 December to cover payments of fines in both cases.
