Arc International is helping lead a special research centre in France whose interests will include the resistance of glass to abrasions caused by dishwashers. The centre, Materiaux a Usage Comestique (MAUD), is also being supported by the chemical company Roquette and by public research centres and other private partners. Its research will also examine ink adhesion; food contact; and the affects of non-stick coatings. The centre will look at nanotechnology; food quality and safety; and sustainable development. Eventually, the centre will aim to create an EU standard for materials for domestic use. Arc is also involved in the Comite des Arts de la Table, an organisation that has just completed a research project that has concluded that eating food from attractive tableware improves its perceived taste.
