Arc International recently announced that it is investing nearly US$ 40M on state-of-the-art advancements that dramatically lower emissions from its Durand Glass Manufacturing Co glass furnaces while increasing production capacity. Thanks to these changes, the N American production facility will be the cleanest plant of its kind. The investments involve an additional natural gas furnace to increase capacity, creating new jobs while protecting more than 1000 jobs at the site. 2012 is the 30th anniversary of Arc International's Millville, NJ manufacturing site. "Given Arc's longstanding reputation as a top employer and leader in innovation, it makes sense they're at the forefront of finding ways to reduce their environmental footprint," said the Mayor of Millville, J T Shannon. Arc is retrofitting all three of its glass furnaces with new state-of-the-art filtering system to reduce primary emissions by at least 75%. "Our ambition is to demonstrate more innovation to meet the expectations of our consumers, while preserving our planet," said Guillaume de Fougieres, CEO of Arc International.
