Application Of Photopolymer Hologram To Automotive Head-Up Display

This paper describes the manufacture of holograms in regard to automotive head-up display (HUD) applications. DuPont photopolymer was improved for automotive use, especially in holographic properties and durability. An optical design simulator was developed for optimization of diffraction properties of the hologram. Three colour recording and colour simulators were developed inorder to improve the external colour of the hologram. The stray light called flare arises from reflectio by windshield glass surface and diffraciton by hologram. A diffuser type trap beam guard hologram was developed to reduce the flare. Finally, a stand-alone type holographic HUD system attached on car dashboard was demonstrated.
