Application Of Oxy-Fuel Firing To An E-Glass Furnace

Oxy-fuel firing is currently being proposed for use in glass furnaces because it meets the tight requirements of environmental regulations and increased pull. Following a problem in the recuperator of one of its furnaces, Cam Elyaf San AS, employed this technique to alleviate this particular problem. This may be the first full scale demonstration on a fibre glass furnace in the world, and the results showed that oxy-fuel technology can be either partially or fully applied without affecting production while improving furnace and recuperator life, glass quality, fuel consumption and pull rate of the furnace.
