The lehr described is divided into sections corresponding to individual stages of the heat treatment. The heating up zone has two sections and the articles are then held at temperature in a further section. There follow nine sections for slow cooling and five sections in the zone for rapid cooling. The length of the uncovered part of the lehr is 5,200 mm compared with an overall length of 30,689mm.
