Anheuser-Busch To Build Brewery In Guangdong Province

Anheuser-Busch has announced it will build a greenfield brewery in Foshan to support the growth of the Budweiser family of brands throughout China. The brewery will cost around US$63M and is scheduled for completion late 2008 with initial production capacity of 2.6M/hectolitres. This will double Budweiser's distribution in China over the next five years, expanding into 100 new cities, each with a population of at least 1M. Such markets will make Budweiser available to an extra 150M potential beer drinkers. In 2006, the Chinese beer market grew nearly 15%, the third consecutive year of double digit volume growth.
